The rest
Staff at £22 an hour, about what a £35,000 surveyor costs with NI and pension. Vehicle at the HMRC 45p a mile, 25 mph average. CentralNest Pro at £199 a month, spread over your quotes. The same 40% win rate for both.
What we left out
Cancelled visits, items missed on the survey and jobs lost to a faster quote. Real costs, just hard to pin down, so the true figure is usually higher.
Fair questions
How much does a home survey cost a removal company? +
With our starting figures, an in-person survey of a 3-bed home 25 minutes away takes about two hours of staff time and costs around £55. Win 40% of your quotes and each job you book carries the cost of two and a half surveys.
Isn't an in-person survey better at winning the job? +
Sometimes, yes, so the calculator uses the same win rate for both. Plenty of firms keep the home visit for big moves and use video for the rest.
Why does it say CentralNest would cost me more? +
At very low volumes the monthly plan can cost more than the time it saves. If that's you, we'd rather you knew now.
